NEW MEXICO COURT REJECTS CLERK'S SSM REQUEST: From the Associated Press
The state Supreme Court Thursday rejected the Sandoval County Clerkâs request to issue more marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The court unanimously denied a request from Clerk Victoria Dunlap to lift a temporary restraining order that stopped her from issuing same-sex marriage licenses. The court turned down the request without comment. Dunlap issued more than 60 same-sex marriage licenses on February 20th. She stopped late in the day after Attorney General Patricia Madrid declared that same-sex marriage was not legal under state law. Dunlap contends New Mexico laws support same-sex marriage. The attorney general says state law limits marriage to a man and a woman link |
